Location profiles

The places in your story, with what matters about each one: how it looks, how it sounds, what role it plays in the plot and which chapters it appears in.

Create a location

What each profile holds

  • Look and atmosphere, beyond the physical description.
  • Narrative function: what happens here that couldn’t happen anywhere else.
  • Who lives there, linked to your character profiles.
  • The texts where it appears, detected when your documents are analyzed.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for real places?

Yes. With an existing city, the useful part is the atmosphere and the function; the geography is already there.

How many locations can I create?

Twenty on the free plan and five hundred with PRO. A novel usually moves between ten and thirty named places.

How does it know which chapters each place appears in?

When your documents are analyzed, mentions of the place are found and linked to its profile, so you can see at a glance where it shows up and where it’s been missing for a while.
